Humanity is in a state of great flux and agitation. How can we move past the constant quest for disruption towards regenerative, constructive and grounded impact focussed ideas and technologies? How can we find stronger ground?
The world sits in the maelstrom of a broad range of diverse crises: social, geopolitical, environmental, economic, personal, interpersonal. Challenges faced into more presently and with more bracing honesty right now in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is slowing down the dysfunctional “old normal” enough to see the weaknesses in it’s stressed and slowly fracturing gears.
What will the “new normal” bring? Just about every consulting firm or tech provider promises the answers to this at a tidy price, as they usually do, sharks to the blood of any crisis. They’re “pivoting” so fast our heads spin with the pace of the ever accelerating “disruptive“ technological progress which largely placed us in this mess in the first place.
But really? Are we destined to continue chasing capitalist hype, egoic conflict, environmental and social decay, or can we be more thoughtful and intentional about the futures we choose? Which technologies bring true benefits to mankind and which bring chiefly harm and waste? What are the choices we can pragmatically make to heal the sicker ways in which we relate to ourselves, each other and the planet? How can we build stronger foundations for humanity? Is there a new normal which can bring health, fullness, wellness and balance to humans, our communities, and the Earth we depend on to survive and thrive?
Stronger Ground is an event series and media platform borne out of these questions and more, and a deep desire for discovering and sharing the answers to them with a wider reach.
Over the coming year in our launch series and collaborative event projects we will bring together researchers, activists, artists, not for profits, social enterprises, aid workers, scientists, community leaders, economists, conservationists, regenerative culture and sustainability practitioners, government agencies, technologists, and anyone else with a passion for building better futures, and see what emerges. Stay tuned, take part, and help humanity find stronger ground.
